2026 Projects

Community Development Projects

In 2026 FOL continues to support community based projects in Lesotho.

Tuition Assistance Program (TAP):

TAP funds totaling $4,500 were distributed to Mantsopa Rotary Club to support continued education for 12 students across 5 districts who had applied for tuition assistance. TAP funds totaling $2,000 were distributed to Molete Foundation to support the continued education for four students who had applied for tuition assistance.  TAP funds totaling $320 were distributed to Teboho’s Bike Shop to support a student’s tuition fees.

Matlapaneng Primary School Bore Hole

FOL donated $6,500 to Matlapaneng Primary School in Mafeteng to create a tap connecting the school to the community bore hole. The village and school community, serving thousands of residents and learners, face ongoing challenges accessing safe and reliable water. With the continued drought in Mafeteng, the situation is exacerbated. This funding addresses this challenge and is being overseen by the community water committee and a PCV serving in the community.

Thuathe Preschool School Supplies

FOL donated $1,000 to Thuathe Preschool in Maseru to support new floor mats and extensive school/crafting supplies. Thuathe Preschool is an early childhood development preschool and daycare for working parents in Maseru.

Hope English Medium School

FOL transferred a donation from William Noble totaling $5,000 to Hope English Medium School in Mafeteng. FOL donated the wire transfer fee.

Thabana Ntlenyane Restores Fisheries Project

FOL donated $4,000 to community group Thabana Ntlenyane Restores to establish a sustainable trout fish farm in Linakaneng through the Linakaneng Highlands Aquaculture Project. The project supports building additional small ponds/tanks, acquiring new fingerlings, fish feed and training over 20 local community members to manage a sustainable aquaculture system.

Habitat for Humanity and Touching Tiny Lives Project

FOL donated $6,000 for a Wittenberg led Habitat for Humanity project that will have students partnering with Habitat for Humanity Lesotho to build a home in Ramabanta. The team will also be working with the Touching Tiny Lives Project in Mokhotlong on the construction of a preschool. Finally, the team will be building a playground and painting a primary school in Ha Dinizulu. This project will take place this summer.

Seeds of Success Foundation

FOL donated $3,500 to the Seeds of Success Foundation to implement their 'Thetsane Craft Hope' project. The funds will be used to make & sell beaded jewelry with the proceeds used to provide school uniforms for at least 30 students in the Thetsane area of Maseru. This is a skill building program that will also benefit those who are trained to make the jewelry and continue their trade. Seeds of Success is a community based organization in the Thestane region.

Girls Camp in Sethlabathebe

FOL donated $350 to a 12+ years of age girls camp taking place in Sethlabathebe to provide lunch and notebooks to over 100 female attendees for this two day camp. The camp is focusing on mental health, mindfulness, journaling, and self defense.

Lesobeng Secondary School and Montmartre Primary School

FOL transferred a $5,000 donation from Edgar Dalrymple for the purpose of funding teacher housing, energy costs, and equipment purchases. Lesobeng Secondary School and Montmartre Primary School are located in Thaba Tseka district. FOL donated the wire transfer fees.

Pela Tseou Lecsa Primary School Renovation Project

FOL donated $1,800 to fund doors, windows, chalkboards, and labor costs to finish two classrooms on a continued school renovation project. The community will contribute transportation of supplies as the school is down a long dirt road in Leribe. FOL + Lesotho Nutrition Initiative have previously worked with the school.

Sechaba Community Initiatives Chicken Production Project

FOL donated $3,100 to Secahaba Community Initiatives Organization for their chicken production project. The donation will pay for the poultry shelter's construction materials, the initial purchase of 300 birds, as well as food & heating lamps for the chicks to sustain the community-led food security program.

Tele Primary

FOL donated $6,800 to Tele Primary School in Quthing to construct a new classroom. Tele Primary previously successfully implemented a Peace Corps Partnership Project (PCPP) funded project to implement SolarSPELL and create a library. During this project, an existing classroom was utilized and the school remains short of needed infrastructure. PCPP grants will no longer support brick + mortar project needs.
