Dear Don,
TAP Recipient Thato Rakoto, Methodist Primary, Maseru
On behalf of the Tuition Assistance Program in Lesotho, I would like to express my gratitude for the financial assistance Friends of Lesotho has generously given to numerous Basotho students for several years. The money donated to TAP from FOL and the Taipei American School enabled TAP to award 234 scholarships to deserving students for the 2002 school year. This includes 119 secondary school scholarships, 100 primary school scholarships, 9 vocational scholarships, and 6 special education scholarships.
In addition, we have received the check for $4,500. As we go through our selection and approval process we will update you on the scholarships awarded for the 2003 school year. I have included a few of the thank you letters and photographs of students who received scholarships.
I thank you for educating the youth of Lesotho. I honestly can not express our gratitude in mere words.

Taipei American School
For the past several years former Lesotho PCV Sandy Puckett has conducted fund raising activities to support the Tuition Assistance Program. Bake sales, walk-a-thons, you name it, he has raised and donated thousands of dollars. Sandy teaches 7th grade, “Gold House” at the Taipei American School in Taiwan.

From the Volunteer Advisory Committee:
One of the goals of FOL is to support development and education projects in Lesotho. Most often, due to limited available funds, this support occurs in the form of small grants to current volunteers in Lesotho. As it turns out this works quite well because many of the projects require only a small amount of money, too little to be considered by major donor organizations. The grants are made through the Volunteer Advisory Committee in Maseru. The committee is comprised of current volunteers. FOL has been making annual donations for years.
