My name is Dyann Van Dusen and I am a 54 year old married volunteer (grandmother of 3 girls) serving in Lesotho. My service began on August 15, 2003 and will conclude on August 14, 2005, so my time is now running short. When I return to the states I intend to continue working with the NGO I am going to tell you about.
LCCU (Lesotho Child Counseling Unit) was not my “official assignment”, but has become my main focus in the last year. The 3 Basotho women (unpaid volunteers) who run the shelter are extremely dedicated, smart and hard working. The life stories of the children who come and go from the shelter are heartbreaking—yet the children never fail to amaze me with their resilience and response to love.
After reading about LCCU, I hope you will agree that LCCU is an NGO deserving your support.
